Chapter [2]

The school bell rang instantly as Rose set foot onto the cobble stone pavement of the school grounds. Sighing with relief she made her way through the doors to register herself as another student. Since she had already missed half her first class just getting through the paperwork, Rose was was assigned to do self study in the library.

Rose walked straight through into the library, and grabbed the first interesting book she could find. She sat down and dropped the book on her lap, before taking any notice of the people around her. She pulled out her glasses and put them on. Her face dropped. He was sitting right next to her. She turned slightly away, as the memories of earlier that day flooded back into her mind. Rose's cheek tinted to a darker shade of pink. She shook her head from side to side trying to stop thinking about falling over in the park. 


"Yo..." a voice came from behind her.

Rose turned to look at him. Her expression became shy, as her eyes dropped to the table.

"Hello" She mumbled.

 
His cheeky grin had made a reappearance. Rose looked up and finally made a decent smile.
 
"Skipping class" He accused of her.
 
"No I haven't. Registering took so long. Are you?" She responded feeling surprised.
 
"I'm Joel. Nice to meet you. And you are?" Joel attempting to avoid the question.
 
"I'm Rose. Nice to meet you. So your skipping class and you come to the library?"

His expression changed to a smug smile. "It's quiet here. I like it this way rather than being surrounded by chatter boxes. Your not from around here are you?"

Rose looked away. "Well..." trying to find a way to make herself not seem suspicious.

"You don't have to say much if you don't want to" Joel responded, as he leaned back into the chair.

 
"It's ok. I've been to over 7 schools. That's more than enough for one lifetime. So I've been everywhere. I've made friends and had to move on. It's difficult. But now I can finally settle in once place. And that's here Elms Wood".

She smiled at Joel trying to hide the fact it caused a lot of sadness having to move from one place to another, but he could tell she didn't like having to move so many times.
 
"Well you have settled down finally. You can relax now"

The two talked all afternoon. Some of their classes they were in the same ones. Some were not. Rose was highly relieved she finally had a friend in the new town. One she didn't have to leave in a few months time. She could really build new relationships, have a best friend, and even consider having a pet for once. She felt so excited for once.

The school bell rang once again. And Joel was waiting outside for her. She smiled as she stepped out the door. 

"Hello again" 

Joel waved back at Rose. " Do you have any plans?" He asked.
 
Rose stood there thinking. "Nope" She smiled.

Joel's eye lighted up. "Good. Would you like to go somewhere maybe?"

Rose noded.

Joel signaled her to follow him. After walking down a few streets for about 20 minutes they reached a cafe. Since Rose didn't know the area very well she kept close to him. They both took a seat at the table. Rose was so happy she had someone to hang out with. She was so intrigued to find out more about Joel. Become better friends.

It seemed some other students had came into the cafe as well. Rose could hear them whispering behind her back. 

"Who is that girl? Joel never hangs around with girls"

Joel just laughed to himself. 

"It seems they are slightly jelous. Girls always seem to want to get to know me. Or talk to me. It can be quite annoying."

Rose started to giggle quietly. "Oh do they? I can see why it could be quite annoying. Do you not talk to them at all?"

He folded his arms. "They are very vain girls and just want to use me to their advantage. I'm not going to stoop so low to be with one of them."

Rose eyes widened "Ah right. So why do you talk to me?" 

"Well. You seem interesting. You can have a proper conversation and your not full of yourself." He said smiling.

Rose looked at the other students and then back at Joel. "I still have a few more questions. What is your favourite thing to do? Tell me a bit about yourself really"

He placed his hand under his chin "Well I go clubbing kiss other girls.Ha ha not really that's not my sort of thing." He winked jokingly. "I like reading, astronomy, hanging out with good friends the usual. And the part about myself.Hmmm... My full name is Joel Xiavier. I have a older sister called Trinity. How about yourself?"

Rose chuckled to herself more "I'm an only child. I love tea, and I love to play the guitar. My full name is Rose Taylor."

By the end of them talking it had already turned dark and Joel walked Rose home. Before waving good bye and making his own way back.
